United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps

How old do I have to be to join the Sea Cadets?
Sea Cadets have to be at least 14 years old to join and exit the program upon reaching their 18th birthday. League cadets are able to "Fleet Up" into the Sea Cadets upon reaching their 13th birthday, but have to have completed the required coursework and have their command's approval to do so. Leaguers have to show maturity, responsibility and integrity to their shipmates and must have commands approval to leave the League Cadets to join the Sea Cadets.

Do I have to have a haircut exactly cut to military standards?
Yes!! The uniform you are wearing represents the US Military and they expect you to adhere to uniform requirement regulations strictly! Your haircut must be within military regulations in order for you to wear and properly represent your Sea Cadet Unit. For questions regarding the uniform and haircut regulations, please visit seacadets.org or contact your COC for clarification.
United States Navy League Cadet Corps

How is the Navy League Cadet Corps different from the Sea Cadets?
The United States Navy League Cadet Corps is for kids aged 11-13. Cadets enrolled in the USNLCC do similar things Sea Cadets do, yet the program is more geared to their age group. Leaguers are viewed as upcoming young leaders and use the Sea Cadets as mentors and examples to look up to. Comparatively speaking, Leaguers would be to Sea Cadets what Cub Scouts are to Boy Scouts.

Does the Navy League Cadet Corps haircut have to meet the same strict standards as the Sea Cadets?
Most definitely! The uniform Leaguers and Sea Cadets wear represents our US Military. Just as they are expected to follow stringent uniform requirements, Sea Cadets and League Cadets are held to that same standard! For more information on the haircut regulation and requirement, contact your COC or visit seacadets.org.
Veterans Pride Battalion

What do I do when I'm not at Drill?
When Cadets are away from the unit, they are encouraged to participate in volunteer opportunities or other trainings they would like to be involved in. Parades, Fundraising Events (car shows, military appreciation ceremonies, etc.) Advanced Trainings and other events sister units participate in provide a variety of opportunities allowing our cadets to earn ribbons and awards for being responsible and working hard to improve their service record. Cadets are encouraged to be creative and find exciting, interesting things to learn so they can relate their experiences and share their knowledge when they meet for Drill Weekend.

What is a POD?
The POD is the Plan of the Day. It is issued as soon as it becomes available (usually within one week of drill) and contains all the information everyone will need outlining the training schedule. Some of the information listed is:
Sea Bag list
Daily Activities
Uniform Requirements
Dates/Times/Schedules
Contact Information
Drill Locations and expectations

How much does it cost to join Veterans Pride Battalion?
The enrollment fee for VPB is $200.00 the first year, $100.00 annually thereafter. Payments can be made in the form of credit card, cash or check with approval from our Administration Officer. Payment arrangements may be accepted on a case by case basis with the Commanding Officers approval.

Where does Veterans Pride Battalion meet?
VPB Cadets and Staff drill once a month at our Unit Headquarters- Glendale AZ. There are many different events and programs throughout the year that our unit attends such as Car shows, parades, specialized trainings, officer meetings, etc. that may not occur at our headquarters. VPB is focused on providing many unique and different opportunities for Cadets and Staff alike and is conscious of schedule conflicts and travel expenses- we make every effort to consider these things when determining events and schedules and try to minimize the financial impact on our Cadet Families as much as possible.

Chain of Command

What is a Chain of Command?
Chain of Command is a way for people to communicate with one another. Information is created by the person in charge and is relayed to cadets through officers, instructors and squad leaders. If a cadet has a question for an instructor or officer, using the chain of command they will be able to get their question answered properly and quickly. It teaches Cadets to rely on one another and to help each other solve issues and problems for themselves.
